UNICEF Charity Run 2010 Unite for Children. Unite Against AIDS

HONG KONG, 8 July, 2010 – Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF today announced that the UNICEF Charity Run 2010 will be held at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Sunny Bay on 28 November (Sunday). The event is supported by renowned celeities and Ambassadors of Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF, Ms. Miriam Yeung, Mr. Louis Koo in addition to the three top runners in Hong Kong, Mr. Lai Hok Yan, Mr. Gi Ka Man and Ms Yiu Kit Ching. This year, UNICEF Charity Run will raise funds to support UNICEF’s “Unite for Children. Unite against AIDS” Global Campaign, preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS from mother-to-child.

The UNICEF Charity Run now becomes one of the most popular distance races in Hong Kong. From 2006 to 2009, this event has raised more than HK$20 million and more than 21,000 runners have participated. Chairman of Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF, Mr.Louis Loong said, “We aim to have more than 10,000 runners joining the Charity Run this year, raising more funds for the needy mother and children affected by HIV/AIDS”
The Ambassadors of Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF, Miriam Yeung and Louis Koo presented souvenirs to the major sponsors and supporting organizations of this event and thanked them for helping make the UNICEF Charity Run 2010 happen.
Hong Kong’s top runners Mr. Lai Hok Yan, Mr. Gi Ka Man and Ms. Yiu Kit Ching were appointed as Ambassadors of UNICEF Charity Run 2010. They shared running tips with the audience and encouraged the public to participate in this event with their friends and families.
The UNICEF Charity Run 2010, jointly organized by Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association, will include Half Marathon, 10km Run and 3km Fun Run, encouraging children and their family members to join. The race course encompasses scenic spots in Hong Kong including the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Inspiration Lake, and costal area alongside Airport Express station and Sunny Bay.
