Breastfeeding Advocacy & Early Childhood Development

#SayYesToBreastfeeding
Adequate nutrition helps children to thrive, and breastfeeding is the first step of children’s healthy development. UNICEF and the WHO recommend mothers to start breastfeeding one hour after birth and continue breastfeeding exclusively for the first six months.
Early Childhood Development
Life’s early years have a profound impact on a child’s future. When loved, nourished and cared for in safe and stimulating environments, children develop the skills they need to embrace opportunity and bounce back from adversity.
Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative
In 1992, the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF formed the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Committee in order to promote and support breastfeeding in Hong Kong.
