UNICEF HK “Discover, for every child” – Virtual Run was successfully held

Hong Kong, January 31, 2022 – The first-ever virtual run event by the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) “Discover, for every child” – Virtual Run was successfully held from 21 December 2021 to 27 January 2022. The event received enthusiastic response from runners and supporters with 65,409km completed by participants which is comparable to running 1,000 times around the Hong Kong Island or 1.5 times around the globe. Remarkably the top three runners attributed over 1,000km during the event.
The net proceeds of “Discover, for every child” virtual run will be used to support various projects under the UNICEF’s global initiative, “Reimagine Education”. This initiative responds to current global learning crisis under COVID-19 by providing educational resources to needy children. UNICEF HK would like to take this opportunity to thank all donors, supporters and participants that made this successful event possible. For every step that they took, it ings hope and changes the lives of children in emergency situations.
We would also like to extend appreciation to the kindness of our principal sponsor - The Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust for their generous support in donating HKD$10 to the “Reimagine Education” initiative for every 1km completed, empowering even more each step our participants made. In view of the significant and enthusiastic support from participants, The Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust has generously increased its sponsorship to HKD$2 million in supporting UNICEF’s “Reimagine Education” initiative.
