UNICEF HK 2021 A New Experiential Virtual Fund-raising Event, “Discover, for every child” Appreciation Ceremony Breaking With Conventions to Advocate #PlayToHelp

Hong Kong, 8 October 2021 – Organized by Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK), a new experiential virtual fund-raising event “Discover, for every child” was held from 30 August to 22 September. ‘Play to help’ is the goal of the activity. Despite the disruption from COVID-19 pandemic,  participants were still able to join 9 innovative programs through mobile app, to get a taste of being a child again while helping children in need around the world. All donations raised from the activity (25 August to 5 September) will be specially allocated to help UNICEF "Haiti Earthquake and Rescue Emergency Rescue Project", and the remaining donations from the activity will be used to protect the children and families who are affected by the pandemic around the world.

UNICEF HK “Discover, for every child” Appreciation Ceremony was held on 29 September 2021 with officiating guests including Ms. Judy Chen, Chairman of Hong Kong Committee For UNICEF; Mrs. Bonnie Li, Fundraising Committee Chairman of Hong Kong Committee For UNICEF; Ms. Charlize Liu, Head of Public Affairs & Communications of SF Express (Hong Kong) Ltd.; Ms. Vivian Hui, Deputy General Manager of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited; Mr. Paul Smitton, Chief Executive Officer of Asia Miles Ltd.; Ms. Andrea Leung, Group General Manager (Marketing) of Sino Group; and Ms. Guo Jingjing, Goodwill Ambassador of Hong Kong Committee For UNICEF and “Discover, for every child” Celeity Tour Guide attended the event.

In her opening speech, Ms. Judy Chen, Chairman of Hong Kong Committee For UNICEF, stated that UNICEF HK had redefined the meaning of eaking the boundaries under the COVID-19 pandemic and developed innovative fund-raising activities to encourage the public to protect the children in need together. Providing 9 interesting programs, “Discover, for every child” is a new virtual campaign held under the “new normal” which makes people understand more about UNICEF’s work in the front line through their participations. Judy had sent her greatest gratitude to all sponsors, including Cinda (HK) Holdings Ltd., SF Express (Hong Kong) Ltd., Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Ltd., Asia Miles Ltd. and Sino Group for their unfailing support towards the event.

During the event, a highlight video was played as a recap of the enjoyable moments of “Discover, for every child”. It included the making-of videos by the celeity tour guides, Joyce Cheng Yan Yee, Kelly Cheung Hei Man, Guo Jing Jing with her family, the promotional video by Wong Kam Po and also some entertaining photos of other participants.

As the event highlight video came to an end, participating guests gathered on stage for the gimmick activation to thank the public for their great support to “Discover, for every child”, and to the upcoming campaigns of UNICEF HK.

Finally, UNICEF HK invited Ms. Chan Hoi-wan, Director of Trustee of The Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust to the stage and announced that “Discover, for every child” Phase two – Virtual Charity Run would be held in December 2021. As an extension of this meaningful program, without time or space limitation, the Virtual Charity Run aims to make running become part of the entertaining activities, encouraging people to continue to help children around the world.
