Mother’s Day special: UNICEF HK Little Artists Big Dreams Drawing Competition invites Hong Kong little artists to enrol DIY family t-shirts will be offered for the first time to raise funds for improving maternal and child healthcare in rural China

HONG KONG, 5 April 2017 ── Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) will hold the China Children's Week 2017 – Little Artists Big Dreams Drawing Competition on 7 May 2017 (Sunday) at Central Lawn, Nursery Park, West Kowloon Cultural District in Kowloon. The competition, fully supported by Principal Sponsor Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited, aims to raise funds for UNICEF’s Cash Transfers for Deprived Children Project in China. Local little artists aged 12 or below are welcome to participate in this meaningful event themed on ‘A small gift to mum’. They can draw to express love for their mothers prior to Mother’s Day, and demonstrate the spirit of ‘Kids helping kids’ by giving every child in rural China a good start in life with better healthcare services. UNICEF HK will also introduce fundraising family t-shirts for the first time and offer various carnival activities for children to enjoy on the event day.
The funds raised through the competition will continue to support the Cash Transfers for Deprived Children Project in rural China, targeting 15 underprivileged provinces including Yunnan, Gansu and Sichuan. Pregnant women in the provinces are eligible for a cash subsidy as an incentive to receive medical care, such as antenatal and postnatal check-up, birth delivery in hospital and immunization for their newborns. As of 26 January 2017, 16,806 pregnant women and infants under 1 year old have benefited from the project.
This year, the organizer will introduce fundraising family t-shirts for the first time. On the event day, little artists can submit their artworks for digital scanning and the organizer will then create personalized t-shirts based on the scanned artwork designs. Participants, as well as their family and friends can then visit to designated fundraising pages to order fundraising t-shirts, of which all proceeds will be donated to UNICEF HK after deducting administrative costs. There will also be a Top T-shirt Fundraiser Award that the little artist who raise the highest funds through the T-shirt will receive a gift from the event’s fundraising partner.
Other carnival booth activities include face painting, parental workshops, mobile showroom, charity sales and more exciting booth activities, providing parents and their children with an excellent bonding opportunity.
